JDBC and insert in VJ#

I have a problem the corresponding code works fine with Java but the sam I am not able to in VJ# i am using VJ# 2005 beta express Edition . I am not able insert into MS-Access database using the following code in VJ# can anyone help me. I dont get any errors.

public String Insert(String user , String pass , String first , String last , String dept)throws SQLException
    {
        String b=" ";

        try
        {
            Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
            Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:HelloWorld",
                        "", "");
            Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
            String str = "INSERT INTO user(User,pass,first,last,dept) VALUES ('" + user + "', '" + pass + "', '" + first + "', '" + last + "', '" + dept + "')";

            System.out.print(str);
            int result = stmt.executeUpdate(str);

            if (result != 0)
            {
                b = "Succesfully added";

            }
            else
            {
                b = "failed";
            }

            System.out.println(result);

            con.commit();
            stmt.close();
            con.close();

           
        }
        catch (Exception e)
        {
            e.printStackTrace();
        }
        return b;
    }
}

Please try the J#.net jdbc driver:
"com.ms.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver"
