I'm currently trying to install VC++ 2008 Express Beta 2. It downloads all
the files just fine. Then it begins to install .NET Framework 3.5. This
starts, but at around 5% done according to progress bar it stops
progressing. At this point it hasb't moved for 15 minutes.

Not sure what to do. Cancel and restart? Is this just a long process
involved? The CPU seems about 50% active, and the Task Manage seems to think
it is still running.

Apparently it wanted me to reboot. So I did, and then I went through the
process of installing again by going back to the installation webpage (it
didn't continue automatically after reboot).

This time it worked fine. I've even imported my current project, and it
compiled in 2008 and ran the first time with no changes.

I'm hoping the Beta isn't too Beta-ish... :)

If it's like VS 2008 Pro, Beta 2, you'll be fine. I've been using it to
evaluate and correct assignments from students in VB, C++, and C# classes
all fall and no issues so far. Word has it that the reports on Beta 2 are
positive to the point that it may well go RTM before the end of 2007 :)
