Hi,

I'm trying to install .NET framework 1.1 on a Windows NT 4 machine. The
necessary prerequisites are installed - ie SP6a and IE6 SP1. The
installation gets through installing the files, registering the registry
keys but crashes when trying to register the DLLs. The error message box
which is displayed is "RegSvcs.exe - application has generated an exception
that could not be handled"

Anyone got any ideas on this?

Thanx in advance

Dave

I'm getting the same error on my Windows NT machines. I believe it is related to processor speed, i.e. it will install on Windows NT with a Pentium 3 processor, but not on on with a Pentium 4 processor. Not sure, but that's what it looks like. The .NET Framework 1.1 install fails when regsvcs.exe attempts to register System.EnterpriseServices.dll. Is this the same error you are receiving? The install works just fine on Windows XP, just not on NT....  <shrug>

Hi Steve,

Thanx for your reply.

Yes it looks like you are getting exactly the same error message as me
when installing on a P4 NT4 machine. As you discovered, I was able to
install .NET on a P3 NT4 machine without problems.

Regards

Dave
