Happy New Year 2006!

 Hello:
Following recommendations from Windows Update, I installed Framework 1.1
Service Pack 1 and Office 2003 Service Pack 2.
After rebooting, my computer has lost all connection to the Internet,
Windows Firewall, Symantec can no longer scan e-mail messages, and my CD
burner is no longer recognized.
I tried to restore my system to a previous working state, but still no
luck. Do I need to reformat my drive, or is there a way to work out this
problem?  Windows Update stated Framework is uninstallable.

Thank You for Any and All Assistance and/or Suggestions!
