Can anyone point me to a reference of applications and
their Windows NT Performance Counters?

Specifically, I'm trying to compile a list of products
and their related counters so that I can say, "So you
have SQL Server 7.0?  Then you probably have these 15
counters defined."

As far as I know there isn't any place that aggregates this data.
Documentation for each app should describe its perf counters.  You should
be able to find (or write) a tool which lists all the perf counters on a
machine, though that probably won't help you identify which app uses which
counters.

Yeah, that's about what I figured.  Getting a list of all
categories/instances/etc. is pretty straightforward, but
I was hoping I could just say, "Well I know from this
master list that SQL Server 2000 adds these 20 counters"
without having to install SQL Server 2K and read the
docs/analyze the new counter data.  Maybe I'll just
publish that list myself.
