Hi

We are currently looking into extending our development tools with good
performance & profiling tools and I would like to ask
all the readers for advice on what to use. Software vendors may contact me
directly over e-mail IF (and only if) we're not added
to newsletters/mailing-lists or any other form of advertising channels
implicitly. Tools in all price ranges are interesting and we want
to be able to look at stuff like

   # Isolate memory leaks
   # Isolate bottlenecks
   # Various code analasys tools

We know of the new Visual Studio 2005 Team editions as well as DevPartner
Studio. Other tools of interest are stress test and
load testing tools. I.e we are developing web-applications and need to
simulate trafic on the site, using quality software (for example
Microsoft Stress Test application doesn't feel like the complete deal).

So all software no "test environment should be without" are welcome
suggestions. We are using Windows 2003 Servers, SQL Server
2000 and Visual Studio 2003 / NET 1.1. During this year we will migrate to
Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005.

Sincerly,

Andreas  Håkansson

You should utilize Mercury Loadrunner with combination with the
Performance Center if at all possible. We use Loadrunner to validate
each monthly release with this product for Load and Stress testing
initiatives.

I've found the Sci-Tech memory profiler very useful for tracking memory
allocation and garbage collection.
