Hi!

When developing .net applications that will use office, do you have to
target a specifik office version (like office 2000) or does it work with
several office versions?

Example, if I create an application that uses office 2000. Will this run on
a computer that only has office 2003 installed?

Thanks

Unfortunately, you have have one project for each version of Office that you
want to support.

Unless you use late binding, but given that help on specific issues is
scarce it can be real frustrating.

Thanks for the replies!

Would you recommend some thirdparty tool instead?

I don't quite understand your question. I also made an error in my previous
reply. If you make a COM add-in using a.NET language, you need to create on
dll for each version of Office that you want to support. This doesn't mean
you need two projects. You only need one project with two solutions.

What kind of application are you trying to build? Do you want to automate
Office from an exe?

Hi!

I have a request from a customer to extend one of their systems with the
ability to create powerpoint presentations directly. They have three
different office version within the organization and I need to create a
durable solution. These presentations will then act as templates that they
complete manually.

I've been looking a bit at Aspose PowerPoint components and also tried them
out. But they seem a bit "unfinished". They do get the job done though.

My question is, is there any industrystandard tools out there?

Thanks

Are you trying to create an exe that generates powerpoint presentations?
Where does it get the data from?

Hi!

We have a complete system to manage a competition. One of many results is to
create a presentation of the winners. One wish is to export this
presentation directly into a powerpoint presentation that they manually can
perfect.

So I need a component that

1) Is officeversion independent
2) Can create powerpoint presentation programatically
   a) From templates (predefined pages in an existing ppt file is ok)

I've already made a beta using Aspose's component, and it works just fine
but the feel of the component is "uncomplete".

So my question is, is there any other tools that do the same thing as
aspose's component but are more industry standard, ie more used and
accepted?

The Aspose's component will work for now, it's not to expensive either
(about $800) so it will work in this beta.

Thanks for the description. It seems as if you are developing some kind of
gambling program. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any tool that does what
you want. My only suggestion is that you try your luck at
microsoft.public.office.developer.com.add_ins Maybe someone in that group
knows more about programming PowerPoint.

Good Luck,
Fredrik

Thanks for the info!

Gambling program, no, but close. It's a administrative software to handle a
worldwide packaging award.

I'll stick to Aspose's components for now and see if I can find something
more stable later on.

Again, thanks for the replies!
