Hi All,
I am not sure about whether this question is valid in this
group. I am posting this in this group, since i was not able to find the
group which talks about this kind of clarification.
I have a web application. In that i am using UTF-8 as encoding
schema for Request and Response. I have some clarification related to the
fonts in the client machine. I am sending some Japanese strings to the
client browser. The encoding schema in the client machine is UTF-8. I am
having Verdana as the font foe some portion of the Text. In this scenario,
what will be font used by Japanese Text.
i searched in google. But i was not able to get the correct
information. Can you please help me.

Some of the URLS which i refered:
http://home.att.net/~jameskass/utf8ornot.htm
http://tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/international/bylanguage/japanese.html
http://www.e-multiweb.com/info/asiafont.htm

Thanks and Regards

Two main options:
- use a generic font name ("Sans-Serif", for instance) and let the browser
do the work. What font will really be used is a user preference, and in
general it is nice not to overwrite this kind of thinks. In IE this
preference is set in "Tools" > "Internet Options" > "General" Tab, then
click "Fonts"
- if you want to force a certain typeface for English, then make this
a localizable element and give access to the localizer to change it when they
do the translation. they will now better, may also take into consideration
cultural elements, selecting fonts depending on the page content. Even for
English this does matter. I don't think Disney will use the same fonts
with NASDAQ.
