background:
I am a VB6 developer from last two years and developing
database applications using vb6, crystal reports and sql
server following a three tier architucture using dll as
middle tier.
My quries:
1) I wanted to switch into vb.net and want to follow the
best architucture so please guide me for this.
2) Can you provide me any sampe code for following
this architucture and design.
3) If i use xml as middle tier then how can i define a dynamic
connection string which could be generated at run time.
4) how can i connect to my presentation layer with web service
dynamically at run time.

May I suggest that you start with a book. You have many questions that are
going to take time to answer.

Good guidance on architecture can be found in many places. Here's a good
place to start:

There are literally thousands of working applications online that use fairly
good practices. When you install Visual Studio, you can elect to install
sample applications from Microsoft. There are a couple in there that are
windows-based apps. Start there.

XML is a storage and communication format... doesn't have that much to do
with the connection string which is just a string that you use to open the
db. I'm not sure how to begin to answer your question. Normally, I use
windows authentication and a connection string that is coded directly into
the config file for the application. My Database Access Layer reads the
connection string and uses it to connect to the DB. My queries themselves
can be coded to return XML from the DB, or I can use XML internally either
to store or transmit data.

Fairly easy. Create a web reference for your presentation layer to a web
service on your dev box. That created some code for calling the web
service. At runtime, when you create the object that is derived from the
web service name, you have a URL parameter. Set the URL parameter to your
production web service location before calling any methods. You can store
the location of the production web service in your config file.
