I would like to create a software that is able to perform searching a string in a file content regardless of file type (ie. word, excel, access etc)

However, I cannot find any hint in MS web site to do this.  I understand the MS Document Explorer but no API is available

Could anyone advise how to do this

Thank

MS Document Explorer is the one that click on start, search, and then files and contents.  The process will invoke the MS Document Explorer
