Is the .NET Framework 3.5 compatible for Win2000SP4 server?

I didn't see Win2000 server mentioned in the list of OS's for Framework 3.5
I have Framework 2.0 on the server (SP4) at this moment, but would like to
try the AJAX control extenders in a web project that could be deployed now.

Hi Mark,

Yes, you're right, the .NET framework 3.5 is only supported the following
OS:

Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003; Windows Vista; Windows XP

for windows 2000, I'm afraid it can not utilize the entire .net framework
3.5 runtime. However, if what you care is only the AJAX runtime, you can
consider installing the ASP.NET ajax separately. ASP.NET ajax is supported
for operating system that support .net framework 2.0:

Sincerely,

Note: The MSDN Managed Newsgroup support offering is for non-urgent issues
where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support
Engineer within 1 business day is acceptable. Please note that each follow
up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting
