Any help would be much appreciated in the following problem. I subscibe to a
european streaming TV website - while it worked flawlessly for months, all of
a sudden this message began to pop up! Login still works, but the player
freezes at the connecting to media stage, while waiting for the network
password. All other internet functions work normally, and I don't have a
network.

Perhaps you should as the appropiate support group.
This support group is about programing with Microsoft .NET framework.
Hardly any link with your complaint.
