I keep getting the message:
[04/18/07,15:18:42] Error 25015.Failed to install assembly 'C:\WINDOWS
\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.VisualBasic.Vsa.dll'
because of system error: 0x80131107
[04/18/07,15:19:31] ***ERROR EVENT*** : Custom Action Failure:Action
ended 15:19:31:
when I try and install the framework from the msi installer. I've
tried all sorts of workarounds that I found here:
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=186501&SiteID=1
as well as running the clean up utility from MS. The server has never
had the 2.0 framework successfully installed and there are now other
2.0 related software installed on it (VS 2005 or MSSQL 2005).
The server is a Windows 2003 Standard ed with service pack 2.

Any help is much appreciated!

Are you sure the Framework isn't already installed? Both of those software
products include it.

Sorry, I just saw that I'd put quite a serious typo there. What I
meant to say was that there is *no* other 2.0 related software
installed on it =)

The installation creates a log file in your Temp folder (under Documents and
Settings\Your name...). Reading the installation log may provide a clue.
