Hi,

I need to download files from the FTP location. This FTP location is
readonly n I dont hv access to delete files from this location once
downloaded. The files to the ftp location keeps adding n I need to download
the recently uploaded files only, each time my schedular runs ingnoring the
previously downloaded files as there will be huge number of already
downloaded files n downloading them again is not worth.

How do I acheive this in .Net (Optimum solution if possible).

Thanks in Advance,
Sachin R. Chavan.

Hello,

As Kevin suggested in another thread, you may send a command "NLST" to the
FTP server and get the files informaiton in the response, or you may use:

WebRequestMethods.Ftp.ListDirectory

I found a sample on this here:

most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations

Hello Luke,

For using the Directory Listing option I have to maintain a huge database of
the previously downloaded files n searching through this will be problem as
the data will keep growing.

Instead, Can’t we maintain a created timestamp of the last file downloaded
from FTP n next time download only the file created on later timestamp than
the last downloaded one?

I don’t know risk involved in the other strategy, if u can put a little
light if u came across this situation before will surely a gr8 help.

Thanks,
Sachin R. Chavan.

Hello,

Oh Sorry that 'File Created Date' strategy wont work out, thats a wrong
idea. You get around such ideas when ur in the block of mind state.

Anyways, I think I should cotinue with the directory listing one.

Thanks for the Blog Link,
Sachin R. Chavan.
