Hi,

for some unknow reason the UI of the VS2008 didnt
respond to any kind of input even like Ctrl+F4 or Exit
Command. The Save,Open,Save As, commands didnt
respond and the IDE gave me that MessageBox, but best
of all: There was NO Modal Box at all, nothing to close,
nothing in background, nothing behind the IDE, even
Spy++ told me the same. I had to do a pskill to restart
the IDE. I was just lucky that i did save my work before
this happened,...

No respond to ESC, Ctrl+F4 and any kind of usefull
keyboard command that would make a Modal Dlg close...

How this happened: I dont knoe to be honest. I was
modifying some properties of a control on a form and
and after trying to save my project this happened,...

F***

See here: http://entwicklung.junetz.de/tmp/modal_dialog.jpg

Anybody ever hand that before? Any solution except
pskill et alia,...?

Regards

Kerem

It's not strange. I reported it as bug during beta testing. It was marked as
*not a bug*. Allow me to say, what you experienced IS NOT A BUG.

Hi Alvin,

if this is not a bug, then i know a s*** about
developing. User Interface is not responding.
No Dialog visible to close. No hidden Dialog
visible to close. Controls on then IDE disabled
and no possibility to save your work before doing
a pskill or process -k (my little tool working from
kernel) If this is NOT a bug what else is it? I think
they just dont want to accept is at as a bug,...

Three days ago i found a major problem in a
windows driver, a driver called rpcxdr.sys which
is the core driver of the Services for Unix and
i send MS a report with a DbgView "!analyze -v"
output comming with fresh symbols for xp kernel.
You get a BAD_POOL_HEADER, respectively
a BSOD when you try to start the foundation of the
SFU Services where the SFU cant even run without
them. I had some very important services running in
background and when some special applications run
in kernel then the SFU fails with a BSOD. And the
special apps are MS kernel drivers that make this
scenario happen.

Now it will be intressting what kind of answer i will
get, since this is a real BugCheck comming from
the kernel driver itself (seen in stack unwinde)

Why i wrote this? Because some apps i work with
depend on the SFU and i can use it anylonger. I am
really angry,...and then a couple of probles with the
new VStudio 2008 that i didnt expected,...uahhh!
Even the installation was a adventure on my xp
system. The system was a clean, no beta software
system, up2date and even then the installation
failed several times. See here some of my
screencaps from my "first contact" with VStudio:

[Not a real problem]
http://entwicklung.junetz.de/tmp/hta_install_fail.jpg

[A real problem]
http://entwicklung.junetz.de/tmp/vcppee_instal_fail.jpg

And some more,...

Finally i found the solutiion...
