Hi! We are trying to use ActiveDirectory with the following architecture

Server 1 : ASP.Net apps on a IIS in a DMZ
Firewall
Server 2 : COM+ apps in a MZ

Server1 and server2 being on the same active directory domain.

Is it normal that a simple call takes about 30secs as opposed to 1sec
before having ActiveDirectory in the picture ???

thanx

Hare you shure that this isn't a problem of the firewall configuration ?

Try to look at:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dndcom/html/cis.asp
http://www.microsoft.com/com/wpaper/dcomfw.asp
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q250367&

The problem could be in the name resolution between the server and the
client which causes the delay.

Thanx Pierre, I will look into that.

Are you using this kind of physical 3-tier architecture yourself ?

It seems hard to find good information about COM+ in a 3-tier
architecture....

thanx

I'm using this architecture and works fine, one advice: read the pattern &
practices application guidelines...
