After a recent Microsoft update I am getting the error message 'Windows
explorer has stopped working'  it then pops up with another error message
saying ' Windows exlporer is restarting'.  Then goes back to the first error
message.  Very annoying continual loop.

Am running Vista Home Premium.

I have read various suggestions for fixing this online but none of them have
worked. Including:

System Restore to date before windows crashed
Virus/spyware scan with several programmes
Deleted unknown .dll files
Uninstalled applications recently installed

If I leave the error messages running for a while, Windows tells me there is
a problem with mpegslitter.ax & should uninstall.  Have searched for this
file but cannot find it.

Have a work around which was to set up a new user account, not problems with
this.

Any advice?

Yes. Post your question in a Vista group. This is a .NET programming group.

Here's how to locate an appropriate group through the web interface:

To find the group you need:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?guid=1080912A
-26C5-7040-AFDD-2224A4FEB3EA

Select your language from the Tree View on the left, then scroll down to
Windows. In the Windows category, open the category for Windows Vista.
There, select an appropriate group.
