What operating system?
If you want to format your hard drive, go to the manufacturer's web site and
download their disk management utilities. A formatting utility will be
included.
If you're using Windows and don't know the manufacturer, check Device
Manager.

THERE IS COMMAND THAT CAN BE ENTERED IN DOS TO EARSE HARD DRIVE AND THAN TURN
PC ON WITH CD IN TO RELOAD

To "erase" the drive, try:

format <drive letter>:

e.g. format C:

To boot from CD, you must adjust your BIOS settings (boot sequence) to try
your optical drive first. Of course, you must have a bootable CD to make
this work.
