Anyone have any ideas on how to get my scanner to work with vista.  New
computer which has Vista and now my scanner and sidewinder precision both
don't work - yes they work on the other computer, but of course I want those
on this unit.  Any ideas Tried install and it does not recognize the scanner
and it shows the joystick but won't calibrate or anything

You need to post your question to a group concerned with Vista. This group
if for issues/questions about .NET programming in an academic environment.

I'd suggest that you ask your questions in:

microsoft.public.windows.vista.hardware_devices

In general, you need to contact the hardware device manufacturers to see if
they (as is their responsibility) are providing Vista drivers for the
devices you own.

Download and save application file 6142 from: http://support.visioneer.com/products/home/EOL/Memorex/
Check file properties. Under compatibility choose "Run this program...", then select Windows Vista(Service Pack 2). Click ok, then run the program.
Worked for me with Vista Home Basic.

Further, a quick Google search for drivers for the Memorex scanner reveals
many others looking and Memorex not providing support. It would appear that
**Memorex** has decided to end support for your scanner. I didn't search on
your joystick, you can do so easily.
I have no idea when your scanner model first came out, but many peripheral
manufacturers use the release of a new version of an operating system such
as Windows as the perfect time to end support for older product lines, by
simply not releasing drivers for the new OS.
Think about it from Memorex' perspective. Writing new drivers = no
additional revenue, only expense. Not writing drivers, thus forcing users to
buy a new peripheral = potential new revenue. Best of all, many owners of
unsupported peripherals will not understand exactly who is forcing them to
buy new stuff and blame Microsoft/Vista.

You need to contact Memorex and whoever makes your joystick and ask *them*
why they are not supporting your peripherals in Vista.
