Need Windows Component Update cd?

We bought son number One Visual Studio .Net 2002 Academic Version.  He
changed his major and took the Suite off his p.c.  Now Son number Two wants
to learn Visual Basic.

He tries to reload the program on the same pc, but is confronted with a
dialog asking for Windows Component Update cd.  We can't find it anywhere and
no one has any recollection of needing it before.

Dialog text:  Insert Disk.  Please insert Windows Component Update disk for
Visual Studio.Net now.

Original pc was Windows XP Home.  Now it is XP Home Sp2.

Can anyone give these novices some guidance on how to get Visual Studio
installed, so I can get Son number Two going on this before he loses interest
trying to get the program installed?  Must we re-acquire this disk?  Is there
a work-around?

Many thanks,

Ron

That is one of the CD's that came with the product originally. Unless you
have a MSDN subscription that includes Visual Studio, the CD image cannot be
downloaded. Assuming you purchased Visual Studio .NET 2002 Academic Edition
in a retail package and have the box, etc., I suggest you contact Microsoft
by telephone and request media replacement.

The Group seems to be rejecting my replies...  Nonetheless, here goes again:

Thanks, Peter.

That disk was under the care of a teenager.

However, we aquired a command line switch that turned off the requirement
for the Windows Component Update disk.  Most of the files it contained were
already on the computer, so it works.

It was a good object lesson for the 14-year-old.  His perseverance paid off.

Regards,
Ron

I'm happy for you that you had enough of the components installed so the
switch worked for you :)
