MasterPage setting in web.config - Design Error

I have set the masterPageFile property in my web.config as follows:

<pages masterPageFile="~/Main.master" >

When I create a webform and I don't specify a masterPageFile in the aspx (so
that it uses the web.config specified master) and I go into design view for
the aspx, I get the following error:

Error Creating Control - Content
Content controls can only be used in a content page

Am I setting up the default master page incorrectly in the web.config file?

Thanks for your help

Hi Brian,

For the ASP.NET 2.0 Master page feature, the VS 2005 IDE currently have
limited support in design-time editing. Such setting like global master
page in web.config's <pages> element or  Nested Master pages are not
supported in design-time view. We can manually use it in page and it can
work at runtime.

Also, I suggest you submit this request to the MSDN product feedback center
since it should be a reasonable feature to be added in further release or
update.
